Liz is letting the library take over 365 Barrington this week (woohoo!) and maybe it’s a weird coincidence, but she’s asked me to write two posts about live music in our community and both feature groups I absolutely love. On Saturday, August 10, 2013, treat yourself to shopping, a glass of wine and live music at the Deer Park Town Center’s Jazz Patio & Wine Festival.
I just checked out the weather forecast for Saturday: 78, sunny, a 0% chance of rain. You know who needs to get out into the sun for some fun? You. And your hubby and the kids, or your best group of girlfriends, or your mom and sisters, or…You get the idea.
Here’s the musical line-up for the event :

2:10-3:10 PM Dee Alexander with the Eric Schneider Quartet
3:40-5:00 PM The Chicago Jazz Orchestra

If I can put in a shameless plug, check out The John Moulder Quartet. I’ve seen John live on several occasions and have a few of his recordings – some of the most innovative and astounding guitar playing you will ever hear. But all of the artists performing at Jazz Patio are some of the very best on the Chicago jazz scene, truly sophisticated and exciting music.
If that is not enough of a draw (and it should be), your kids are going to have a blast: there will be free face painting and balloon art as well! It’s also a really cool opportunity to introduce your little ones and teens to some music that may be out of their normal comfort zone. Maybe joining the school band will look really awesome once September rolls around.
