Artists, Makers, and Creative Types – the Barrington Area Library Needs You!

For the last five years, the Barrington Area Library, like many libraries around the world, has offered a “One Book” reading selection. As we met to begin planning our 2016 “Barrington Reads” event, it quickly became clear that we were all pining to do something very different – to think “outside the book,” if you will. After many brainstorming sessions, emails, spreadsheets, and mock-ups, we decided to make 2016 a year of celebrating the creative spirit in Barrington, with a month-long event entitled “Barrington Creates.”

I’ll tell you more about the events, workshops, and programs in some upcoming posts, but today I’m asking for your help!

On the weekend of February 27-28, 2016, we’re hosting our first-ever CreatorFair, featuring creative works from residents and businesses in the Barrington Area Library district. Kids ages 9-13 will have their own CreatorFair on Saturday, February 27, from 2-4 PM, while adults will be featured on Sunday, February 28, from 1:30 – 4:30 PM. While items cannot be sold at the library, presenters may bring brochures, business cards, and other marketing materials to touch base with interested customers. In addition to creative work, children are invited to display their collections, too.

We want to shine the spotlight on your work!
