224. Harvest Moon Hike at Citizens Park Tonight

 I received an email this afternoon about a really cool event happening at Citizens Park tonight.  Sorry for the late notice, but this one is just too cool not to share.  Eighty-six women will gather for a Full Moon Hike at Citizen’s Park tonight in an event organized by Carol Ruhter, owner of Trailbound Trips.  Carol has organized this hike to gather donations for our local food pantry.
Trailbound Trips is a Barrington-based women’s adventure travel business that organizes local day trips, getaways in the midwest and weeklong trips around the country.

220. New Digs for LUXE wearhouse’s High Fashion Discounts

 You’ll find discounts of up to 75% off on some of the hottest designer merchandise for fall at the LUXE wearhouse pop-up shop which reopens to the public TODAY in a brand new Kildeer location!  Marcy Sparr, the Barrington woman who owns the business with her partners, says you’ll find incredible deals on designer handbags, premium denim, fall and winter coats, cashmere and much more at this season’s shop which will remain open through December after this weekend’s 4-day opening event.
You’ll find LUXE wearhouse at The Quentin Collection shops, 20771 N Rand Road in Kildeer , just around the corner from Fresh Market. Marcy says the new location is a little smaller and warmer and feels more like a boutique than last season’s space at Deer Park Town Center.  There are plenty of fitting rooms plus so much merchandise to choose from thanks to Marcy and her partners’ background and connections in the fashion and retail industry.
“We have great outerwear, fall jackets, puffer coats, awesome jeans, colored denim, amazing cashmere sweaters, a lot of silk chiffon shirts, printed shirts and plaid is really big for fall.  You won’t want to miss the amazing designer bags we found.  You can’t beat the price and quantities will be limited so shop early!”

In a society that values ‘self-sacrificing mothers’ and rewards adherence to gender norms, we often deem that a ‘good mother’ has few needs and challenges of her own; rather, she can commit herself in her entirety to her children. Mental illness can certainly make some aspects of motherhood more challenging, but it doesn’t disqualify those of us living with a mental health condition from being good parents. In fact, research suggests that many issues faced by mothers with mental illness are generic to all parents.
