Lace up those running shoes to help stock the Cuba Township Food Pantry during the 3rd annual Run the Shores 5K race and 1 mile run/walk through the Lake Barrington Shores community. The community’s homeowners association and Village of Lake Barrington are co-hosting the event, which starts at 8 a.m. TOMORROW, on Saturday, September 21st.
Run the Shores will begin at the Market Place Shopping Center located at Rt. 59 and Kelsey Road. Runners and walkers will wind their way around Lake Barrington’s 94 acre namesake lake and throughout the picturesque Lake Barrington Shores community with it’s own little forest preserve.
Race bag and Run the Shores t-shirts will be provided to all participants and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers by age category. A raffle will be held following the race with prizes valued up to $200 from area businesses and refreshments will be provided.
New for 2013, the race course has been USATF certified and the 5K run will be professionally timed by RaceTime with timely results available at the finish and posted on multiple web sites.
Participants can pre-register online and by mail, or register the day of the event from 7 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. Registration fee is $20 for adults ($25 on race day) and $10 for children 12 and under. Rain date is set for Sunday, September 22.
They’re expecting close to 200 people to come out to tomorrow’s race and all proceeds will be donated to the Cuba Township Food Pantry. Their goal is to surpass the $2,400 they raised during last year’s race to supply even more food for local families in need this year.
