I received an email this afternoon about a really cool event happening at Citizens Park tonight. Sorry for the late notice, but this one is just too cool not to share. Eighty-six women will gather for a Full Moon Hike at Citizen’s Park tonight in an event organized by Carol Ruhter, owner of Trailbound Trips. Carol has organized this hike to gather donations for our local food pantry.
Trailbound Trips is a Barrington-based women’s adventure travel business that organizes local day trips, getaways in the midwest and weeklong trips around the country.
Here are the quick details about tonight’s hike…
Cost: Free. They are “harvesting” non-perishable food items for a local food pantry. Fill the boxes to overflowing!
When: Friday, September 20 from 9-10:30 pm. (Arrive by 8:50 pm)
Who: Trailbound women and their friends.
Meet: Parking lot at Citizen’s Park in Barrington, IL. Park in the lot near the treehouse by the lodge.
Hike: 3-mile route through Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve (on a crushed gravel trail).
Bring: Flashlights required by the forest preserve. You might also want to bring water and a hiking stick.
Sign-in: At the card table in the parking lot, please put a check mark next to your name when you arrive, and when you finish. (So they leave no hikers behind!)
Rain: They’ll hike in light mist if it’s warm enough, but not in rain/storms. If they need to cancel the hike, they’ll send out an email by 5 pm. You can also call the hotline (847-381-9374) after 5 pm on Sept. 20.
Potty: Flush toilets at the parking lot and pit toilets at the half-way point.
RSVP: Email Carol at TrailboundTrips@gmail.com to let her know if you’re coming and how many are in your group.
