Meatheads Burgers is hosting a series of free summer reading events at all of their restaurant locations, with the next one coming up this Saturday in Barrington! Kids age ten and younger are welcome to this special Story Time with Craft event hosted by author, media personality and “Mommy on a Shoestring” founder Beth Engelman.
Meatheads’ Story Time will run from 10 – 11 am this Saturday, June 28th.
They will also be giving away FREE BURGER coupons for each child attending with a parent or caregiver.
On her Mommy On a Shoestring website, Beth shares ideas for families to live large on a shoestring budget.
This Saturday, Beth will be reading books from her collection and kids will make a book bag to take home.
Her “Mommy on a Shoestring” column appears in over 30 local papers around the Chicago area as well as on the Chicago Sun-Times / Pioneer Press website. Beth is also a regular contributor to “You and Me this Morning” on WCIU-TV in Chicago as well as WGN’s Midday New and you can hear her share her family fun ideas each month on Radio Disney’s public affairs show, “Let’s Chat.”
Saturday’s event is one highlight in a series of ongoing summer reading initiatives hosted by Meatheads. Kids can also participate in the Voracious Reading Program this summer, earning readers ages 13 and under one “Little Meathead” burger for every five books they read. (A parent or guardian signature is required for kids to earn their rewards).

Meatheads Marketing Director Joe Sanders says their Voracious Reading Program runs all year long but is particularly popular this time of year. “With kids out of school, we really want to try to get them reading more over the summer. Our Voracious Reading Program rewards them for books read and encourages them to add more books to their summer reading lists.”
And have you heard about Meathead’s special Goulden Burger? Designed by Chicago Bears Placekicker Robbie Gould, the Goulden Burger is compiled with all of his favorties: a 1⁄3 lb. Meatheads burger topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, Ketchapolte, American cheese, and spicy Cajun fries for a “kick.” The special burger will be on the menu from June 9th to September 30th for $7.00 and Meatheads will donate 10 percent of the Goulden Burger sales price to The Goulden Touch, Robbie’s charitable organization that supports literacy programs and other social service initiatives in Chicagoland.
So when you drop by Story Time at Meatheads this Saturday, get your kids on board the Voracious Meatheads Reading Rewards Program, say hi to Author, Beth Engelman and grab a Goulden Burger. With each bite, you’ll be helping others and giving your own kids a fun reason to hit the books this summer.
