Today marks the first full week on the new job for Dr. Brian Harris who took over as the superintendent of Barrington 220 Schools on July 1st. Dr. Harris accepted the job in Barrington upon leaving Community Unit School District 200 in Wheaton-Warrenville in May where he served as superintendent since 2010.
Dr. Harris recently sat down for his first on-camera interview in his new office at Barrington 220 headquarters with our crew from 365BarringtonTV. Reporter James Owen had quite a few questions up his sleeve for our new superintendent, asking him about his goals for the district and also his family life as a father of two kids in college.
With the help of filmer Jack Coombs, James engaged Dr. Harris in a candid conversation about his background, his strengths, his plans for Barrington PLUS a few topics that he probably didn’t see coming. Be sure to watch for what is perhaps one of the most critical moments of the interview, when James asks Dr. Harris if he’s a Cubs fan or a Sox fan! You’ll find all of his answers here…
In an extended version of the interview, Dr. Harris goes into more detail about things like class sizes, technology in our schools and keeping the district’s budget balanced. He also talks about how his experience as a young student shaped his approach as a school leader and the importance of finding a job you love to do.

Dr. Harris officially stepped up to his new role as Barrington superintendent at the beginning of July after Dr. Tom Leonard left the Barrington district on June 29th to become superintendent of the Eanes Independent School District in Austin, Texas. Dr. Leonard served as Barrington 220’s superintendent since 2007.
