All are welcome to attend the first cultural event in a series of upcoming happenings scheduled to take place at Barrington’s newly renovated White House. The first scheduled event is a Book Signing & Reception with newly published author and long time Barrington resident, Dyllis Braithwaite from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 9th.
Dyllis’ books, “Oh! I Love What You’re Wearing!” (Volumes I and II), feature her unique fashions, all modeled by Dyllis at different locations throughout Barrington. The photographers for this coffee table style book are Maxine Cress, Bob Lee and Susan McConnell.
Dyllis ran Barrington’s Finn’s Fabrics by Dyllis for over 40 years. She possesses a legendary gift for selecting beautiful fabrics, creating wearable art and inspiring others to find their own creative voices, for which she is well known in the Chicago area and throughout the country.
During a reception on the White House front porch, Dyllis’s famous homemade punch and cookies will be served.
Then, she will be speaking while exhibiting her creations on the first floor of Barrington’s White House. Her books will be available and she will be signing each one individually.
The event is FREE and scheduled for Thursday, July 9, 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Barrington’s newly renovated White House is located at 145 W. Main Street Entry to the building will be through the front porch (facing Main Street) or for elevator access, the rear (south) entrance.

July 30 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm | Free
Come to Barrington’s White House to hear artist Steve Puttrich discuss his work and view ten of his beautiful paintings.
The elements of nature, earth, air, water and light, are all around us, and yet we seldom take notice the harmonies creation provides. It is this beauty I look for in life, and I try to capture in my art. After graduating from the American Academy of Art in the early 80’s, oils and watercolor were my medium of study. Later, in the 1980’s -90’s I worked as a professional artist for the Parsons Corporation and currently lead a team of artists and designers there. In the last 10 years, I’ve been rediscovering the struggles and joys of Plein Air painting with my wife and fellow artist Bobbie Puttrich. I also enjoy writing and sharing stories about the many lessons learned while painting, and teaching painting workshops. No registration required. For more information visit StevePuttrich.com.
Barrington’s Dominic Green, “The Gentleman Farmer” shares his active role in the local food movement and how it changed his life and will benefit our community. Dominic will team up with Chef Jeramie Campana, proprietor of Wild Asparagus Catering to demonstrate cooking techniques for “Picks and Prep for Fresh Food from the Garden”! No registration required.
