Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) had a great month honoring Volunteer Month in April. Our annual event Volunteer Connection Live drew in residents who have already joined our online platform and started volunteering, highlighting how quick and easy it is to make an impact via BAVC!
With May now well underway, we want to keep the momentum going! With over 100 nonprofits listed on our platform, it is easy to find a volunteer opportunity that meets your interests and skills. Below is a small sample of what is currently available on BAVC:
Boys Club & Girls Club of Northwest Suburbs (BCGC):
Join the dedicated community of volunteers at BCGC and make a lasting difference in the lives of local youth in the communities they serve!
BCGC has a variety of opportunities, including guest speaker roles, one-time volunteer opportunities, ongoing volunteer positions, and athletic coach positions. Summer Soccer Leagues are starting soon and need volunteers!
For more information, click here.
Other Volunteer Opportunities Available in: Academics, Life Skills, Creative Arts, Employability Skills and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles. Volunteers can also share their unique skills with BCGC, and they would be happy to include that part of their programming. BCGC serves school age kids of all ages at their various locations in the area.

Fur Keeps Animal Rescue
Helping to find homes for homeless cats, Fur Keeps has several opportunities for volunteers. Help out with their Adoption events every Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM at PetSmart in Hoffman Estates or with cat care on a daily basis. Foster ‘parents’ needed for the cats as well!

Hooved Animal Humane Society (HARPS):
The mission of HARPS is to continue promoting and providing humane treatment for animals – specifically horses and other hooved animals – through rescue, rehabilitation, education, and legislation.
Whether you want to learn more about animals, meet others like yourself, reduce stress with physical activity, or make a difference in the life of an animal, we, and the animals, really appreciate your interest.
Great Opportunity for Families – Teens must be 16 or older or 12-15 years with a parent or legal guardian alongside you. Four hours of service per month required and an on-site orientation will be given when volunteers begin.
HARPS needs help in the horse stalls as well as around the property and with events.
