Barrington High School student entrepreneurs are making final preparations to pitch businesses they’ve been developing this school year to potential investors. The BHS Business Incubator class Pitch Night starts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23rd, in the Barrington High School Auditorium. The founders of Brush 32, a new subscription-based dental care service, are NOT among the teams chosen to pitch on Tuesday, but they’re hoping to secure funding from other interested investors.

Named after the number of teeth in our mouths, Brush32’s dental subscription boxes include a month’s supply of high quality, efficient dental products that will keep your teeth clean. The basic box features dental floss, minty fresh toothpaste and a high quality toothbrush. Once you order your subscription, the boxes will show up by mail right when you need them, setting your mind at ease.

Brush32’s founders are juniors Michael Gear, Alec Gibas, Andrew Scheffler and Matt Malters. The team says their service will take the hassle out of your dental hygiene!

“By purchasing our monthly box, you will end up saving time that you would waste driving to the store and looking at all the dental products you could potentially buy, save money because the products we supply in our box are top-tier Oral-B products, and you can keep yourself at ease because once you run out of dental products, the new box will be waiting at your door for use.”

All are welcome to attend the students’ annual Pitch Night at Barrington High School at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23rd, when teams from the Business Incubator class hope to have their dreams become reality. The founders will pitch their ideas in a format very similar to the ABC show ‘Shark Tank’ before the Incubator advisory board and a panel of investors. At least one group will receive full funding to start their company. Student groups have earned as much as $25,000 in previous years.

Barrington 220 is making an even bigger event out of this year’s Pitch Night by featuring the district’s most cutting-edge courses during the first-ever Innovation Showcase beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 23d. Prior to Pitch Night, enjoy viewing capstone projects from Barrington 220’s Project Lead the Way engineering students and checking out the mobile applications created by the BHS Mobile App Development classes.

Barrington 220’s entrepreneurship curriculum doesn’t end at the high school level. An elementary course known as Fresh, INC is now taught to fifth-graders to give them an understanding of economics and entrepreneurship on a smaller scale. Some of the fifth grade entrepreneurs will also be showcasing their products at the Innovation Showcase on May 23.

Formed in 1973, Barrington Community Unit School District 220 educates over 9,000 students at one high school, two middle schools (grades 6-8), eight elementary schools, and one early childhood center.
