Find Bargains on Designer Children's Clothing

If you love beautiful children’s clothing, but cringe at those designer price tags, you won’t want to miss a huge consignment sale going on in Barrington this weekend. The seasonal sale only happens twice a year and is organized by two local moms who call their business “Growing Cents of Style”. They’ve set up the sale racks at a new Barrington location and are busy preparing for this weekend’s shopping frenzy.

There are two “Growing Cents” sales each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. Organizer, Jenny Welsh, says the event grows more popular with each sale due, primarily, to word-of-mouth in a growing network of smart shopping moms. She says they’ll have about 15,000 items available at this weeks’ sale from 200 consignors, including clothing, shoes, accessories, toys, books, strollers and baby gear, just to name a few.

They’re expecting about 400 shoppers at this weekend’s event. Welsh says, “At the beginning it’s a mad rush, but there’s a lot of excitement at the bargains to be found. On Saturday morning, there’s a line at the door 50 to 75 people deep. Experienced shoppers know to bring their own laundry basket to fill.” Welsh says, “It’s an opportunity for moms to make some extra money, to pay for your child’s art class or buy yourself a pair of jeans you want and not feel guilty. I think one of the biggest struggles for stay-at-home moms is how to make a little extra money if you don’t work.” They also offer even deeper discounts for charitable organizations that benefit families in need.

The public sale will be open this Saturday, September 18th, from 9AM until 2PM and Sunday, September 19th, from 10AM until 2PM. They’re setting up in a vacant space at The Shops at Flint Creek at 500 North Hough Street in Barrington. That’s one block South of Route 14 across from Staples and Tropical Smoothie.  You’ll find more information about the sale and participating in future sales at their website, GrowingCentsofStyle.com.
