With more than 150 prizes on the line, the stakes are high for tomorrow’s duck races. Your kids will have a blast at this end-of-summer bash which doubles as a fundraiser to help Illinois children facing serious illness. Here’s how it works…

Before the races, you can “adopt” the brightly colored plastic ducks that will be sent slipping down the waterslides at Langendorf Park pool in Barrington. The cost to adopt one duck is $5, a family of six ducks is $25 and a flock of 25 ducks can be adopted for $100. If you’re really feeling lucky, you’ll have the chance to win $500 if you adopt a “Very Important Duck” for $50. All of the money raised will pay for free services offered to seriously ill children by Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois.

You can adopt your ducks on site tomorrow, or you can make your adoptions online up until 3 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.  You’ll find more information at HospiceDuckRace.com and you can adopt your ducks by clicking HERE.  Hospice and Palliative Care is the largest provider of pediatric hospice and palliative care in Illinois and often provides the care for children at no cost.  Last year, Hospice provided $750,000 in care for children whose families had no means to pay.  You can learn more about their mission and their services at HospiceAnswers.org.

The Duck Races and Pool Party starts at 4 p.m. tomorrow and will last until 7. In addition to the races, there will be swimming, carnival games, DJ music, contests and a new raffle this year where you can win things like Cubs tickets, Bears tickets and jewelry.

Admission to this pool party is FREE, all are welcome and you’ll find Langendorf Park pool at 235 Lions Drive in Barrington.
