There’s no shortage of live music at McGonigal’s Pub, but this weekend you can go there to get your fashion fix. Grassroots hometown store is hosting their second annual Rock ‘n Roll Fashion Show at McGonigal’s on Friday night with live music and models wearing styles from the store.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Mario Licciardi from Consolidated Music in Barrington and Todd Rhodes will be performing rock classics while models showcase current fashions available at Grassroots in the lower level of the blue house at 205 S. Cook Street in Barrington.
If you’ve never been to Grassroots, you have to check out this cool and unique family business. The store is owned by Barrington residents, Todd and Joy Rhodes. Here’s a photo I took during of them in the store during Barrington Sidewalk Days this past summer.
They carry apparel for the entire family, skateboards, jewelry and everyday items for the household at Grassroots. And they just opened a second general store around the corner called Roots 2 General Store at 211 Park Avenue.
At this year’s Rock ‘n Roll Fashion Show, there will be a silent auction with items like artwork, a signed guitar, a hand-painted skateboard and more. There’s a $5 cover and all proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish foundation, an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening diseases.
