They’re setting up as we speak for week two of the Barrington Farmers Market in downtown Barrington. We prepared a special video tour of the market this year which we’re excited to debut today. 365BarringtonTV Reporter Catherine Goetze introduces us to some of the many participating vendors to give us a taste for who and what you’ll find at the market this season…
This week a the Barrington Farmers Market, The Cheese People return with some of the best cheeses produced in the Midwest. The Barrington Area Library will be offering a Children’s Activity at 4 pm. and Frank Bagot will be performing for us.
Each week at the market you’ll find the freshest produce & fruits, delicious baked goods, gourmet cheeses, oils, vinegars and dinners to go. They also feature a local Artist’s Booth plus a children’s activity every Thursday at 4 p.m. And, of course, “Balloon Man” R.C. Juggles is always a big hit with the kids.
The Barrington Farmers Market was started in 2000 by the Barrington Village Association (BVA), a homeowner’s group made up of residents living in the downtown Village area. With the motto “Bringing Neighbors Together”, the Barrington Village Association has run the market with the objective of building community, adding to the character of our historic Village and increasing foot traffic in the downtown area.
With great food products and community involvement, the Farmers Market has turned out to be “the place to be” on Thursday during the summer & fall months. The market is open from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays through October 17th. (Though there is no Farmers Market scheduled for Thursday, July 4th, due to the holiday.)
And if you come to downtown Barrington for the farmers market, be sure to stick around for Cruise Nights! The weekly car show, also in downtown Barrington in the Harris Bank parking lot, starts at 6:30 on Thursday nights and runs through August 29th.
