It was a frosty and fun morning at Citizens Park on Sunday for Smart Farm’s 2015 Frozen Zucchini Snowshoe 5K Adventure. Participants bundled up and braved the cold, but were all smiles as they raced from the start to the finish line.
With kids’ activities, snacks and visits with the Frozen Zucchini himself, organizers say this year’s event was a huge success. And the top finishers took home the coveted frozen zucchini prize. 365Barrington.com reporter James Owen was there to meet the winners and film the event, which is one of main fundraisers that keep Smart Farm’s community gardens growing in Barrington.
The Smart Farm is an educational garden for the Barrington area and nearby communities. Adults, children, and students learn about their agricultural heritage, organic gardening, the slow food movement, and best practices for living “green,” sustainable lives.
