It’s the end of an era for Grove Avenue Elementary School’s annual carnival.  After nearly three decades, this weekend’s 29th annual carnival will be the school’s last. As a tribute to its final year, the family that has made Grove school’s carnival possible offered to make this the biggest one to-date with more games and rides than ever.  So for one last hurrah with the Super Shot, Swings and Windjammer, we hope you’ll come and join us at the carnival!

The fun starts when the carnival opens on Friday, September 18th and will last through Sunday the 20th.  Hours for the family-friendly event are from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, from 12 to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Grove’s carnival has been made possible through the generosity of Jeff and Patty Blomsness.  The family has offered Grove’s PTO access to Blomsness All Star Amusement services at a reduced rate since 1987.  It all began as a collaboration between the PTO, the Blomsness family and Dr. Cindy Kalogerpolous, who will be retiring as Grove’s principal at the end of the school year.

All proceeds from the carnival benefit the Barrington 220 School District and other community organizations.  Revenues have helped fund school projects like a planned redesign and expansion of Grove school’s playground.  You’ll find more information about the playground project and its costs at GroveParkFund.com.  Grove school is working hard to raise funds for the new playground and this video highlights the goals of their campaign.

You’ll find Grove School at 900 South Grove Avenue and you’ll find more photos from past carnivals at Facebook.com/GroveAveSchoolCarnival.  Our kids have been talking about this carnival for weeks.  It’s an exciting event for families so close to home right here in Barrington and we look forward to seeing you there!
