Imagine waking up every day as a child in foster care, wishing for a family to call your own. Praying that someone gives you the gift of a home where you can be loved and belong. There are 3,300 children currently available for adoption in Illinois’ foster care system who share this dream. And Let It Be Us is on a mission to connect these kids with the families they’ve only imagined.

If you’d like to learn a little more about these children and consider ways you can help, there’s an Open House happening this weekend and it’s calling your name. Illinois is home to 18,000 children in foster care, but it’s the 3,300+ who are legally available for adoption that Barrington-based Let It Be Us aims to help with this weekend’s event. It’s happening from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5th, at St. Raymond’s Church (301 S I Oka Avenue) in Mt. Prospect.

Adoption recruiters from Illinois agencies will be there to speak about their adoption programs, foster to adopt programs and they’ll share information about some of the children currently available for adoption. After the presentation there is time allowed for questions and answers. At this event, you will also see the Illinois Heart Gallery – a photography exhibit of children available for adoption created by professional photographers from Illinois.

Whether you have a foster care license or not, this is a great place start. Adoption from foster care is free of charge and does not discriminate against age, income, marital status or sexual orientation. Saturday’s event is open to the public and free of charge. Children, families, ALL are welcome!
