Welcome to This Day in Barrington History
Good morning and welcome to February 12th and Day 43 of 365 in Barrington, Illinois! You’ll find our stories of the day – past, present & future (events) – right here on today’s DailyPage. Because every day has its own rhythm, we’re sharing a song of the day here at 365Barrington.com.
On this day, February 12th in 1809, Abraham Lincoln was born. Also on this day in 1961, The Miracles’ ‘Shop Around‘ became Motown Record’s first million-selling single. It was also the label’s first No.1 hit on Billboard’s R&B singles chart. In the following ten years, The Miracles would have six more million sellers.
Fast forward 15 years and The Miracles released ‘Love Machine’ their 1975 single which was a #1 Pop smash on the Billboard Hot 100, the biggest-selling hit single of their career.
