As summer ends, Barrington Area Volunteer Connection (BAVC) has an increased amount of volunteer opportunities on our platform. Fall is the time where many events take place and nonprofits are looking for some extra assistance from the Barrington community to manage them. Most of the opportunities are family friendly and can accept volunteers from 16 years and older making them accessible to all! Village of Barrington Hills – Fall Festival Volunteers
Sunday, September 15th
Volunteer for this family friendly opportunity & help to make this annual Barrington Hills Fall Festival a success! The Village needs volunteers all day, from setup starting at 9:00 AM, to event help from 11:30 AM – 4:00 PM and cleanup from 4:00 PM until clean. Volunteers can help for 2 hours or stay all day!

Elderwerks – Latino Expo!
Thursday, September 19th
Share your language skills! Elderwerks is seeking English and Spanish volunteers for their Latino Senior Expo. The Expo will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, Elgin. Local organizations will be on hand to provide information and share their resources.
Volunteers will be assigned a variety of tasks including: Welcoming attendees, Monitoring booths, Assisting in the mobile eye/hearing screening booth & help with set up and clean up. Sign up to volunteer for one or both of the following shifts:
Morning: 8:30am – 11:00 am or Mid-day: 10:30am — 2:00pm

BACOA – Mid-Mod Volunteers Needed!
Saturday, October 19th
Come volunteer for this unique event! The Barrington Area Council on Aging (BACOA) is hosting a Mid-Modern century architecture tour of homes in Barrington designed by famous architects like Ed Dart, Harry Weese, Keck & Keck, and more.
BACOA needs volunteers on Saturday, October 19th during the day for 2-3 hour shifts to help guide tour participants at houses throughout the tour. Volunteers can join the tour before or after their shift! (Tour hours are between 10:00 am – 4 pm).
Event proceeds will benefit BACOA programs and the thousands of older adults and caregivers they serve each year.

Barrington Giving Day – Working Board Members
Barrington Giving Day (BGD) is growing, and they are looking for passionate, dedicated individuals to join their working board. BGD’s volunteers help fill key roles that are vital to the success of our events and initiatives! If you have a heart for service and a desire to give back to the community, consider stepping into one of the following positions:
- Clothing Manager
Oversee clothing donations, coordinate with donors and volunteers, & make sure clothing is accessible to BGD families, etc. - School Supply Manager
Purchase and manage the inventory and distribution of school supplies for children in need, work with donors and volunteers, & collaborate with schools to identify specific needs. - Personal Care Manager
Coordinate the collection and distribution of personal care items, work with local businesses and community members, ensure that all items are organized and available for families during distribution events. - Volunteer Hospitality Manager
Create a welcoming environment for our volunteers, ensuring they have the resources and support needed, and develop ways to recognize and appreciate the hard work of our volunteers.
