Live Music at Barrington Celtic Fest

One of the biggest things happening this weekend is the first ever Barrington Celtic Fest which started today and continues through tomorrow at McGonigal’s Pub. You won’t want to miss performances by traditional Irish band, The Reids, tonight and tomorrow night. McGonigal’s General Manager, Damien Dunne’s twin brother is in the band and they’ve flown in from Ireland just to perform at Barrington’s festivities!  You can catch The Reids on the Main Stage tonight from 9PM until close or in the Festival Tent tomorrow night from 8PM until Midnight.  Also performing LIVE tomorrow night is Finbarr Fagan and the Paddy Go Easy Band.

Million Dollar Quartet Promotion at the Arboretum of South BarringtonAnd if you want to do a little shopping before dinner, there’s a special promotion which just started this week at The Arboretum of South Barrington. If you spend $350 or more in a 24 hour period at the Arboretum, you will receive two FREE TICKETS to see Million Dollar Quartet at Chicago’s Apollo Theater. The deal ends March 30th, so this is the perfect weekend to shop for a cause, so to speak. If you haven’t seen Million Dollar Quartet yet, it’s the smash-hit musical inspired by the first and only recording session that brought together rock-n-roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.  For promotion details and to check out the Arboretum’s shopping directory, visit their website at ShopTheArboretumSB.com.

If you want to add anything to one of our upcoming “Hot Happenings” lists, add your event to our community calendar, which you’ll find by clicking HERE. I’ll put your event on our regular list of weekend “Things to Do” and we’ll help spread the word about your picks for the hottest happenings in town. I’ll be back again tomorrow with #352 on our list of 365, a little local real estate news and a list of open houses coming up this weekend in Barrington. In the meantime, here’s a look at one of my favorite songs from Million Dollar Quartet.
