Barrington dancers will be part of a special performance this weekend, “…infused with power, movement and explosive chemistry”. With a description like that, how can you miss it! About 35 of the Barrington area’s very best performers will have the honor of sharing the stage with professional dancers from Chicago’s Giordano Jazz Dance Company on Saturday night. That tops our list of Barrington “Hot Happenings” for March 24-26.
Late last year, several choreographers from Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago partnered up with local dance groups in a new dance initiative called the “Giordano Choreography Project” led by Barrington High School Fine Arts Chair, Julie Salk and the Artistic Director for Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago.
Ellen Werksman’s Midwest Dance Collective is just one of several dance groups from area high schools and local dance ensembles taking part. There was a special “Giordano Choreography Project” performance at Barrington High School in February. This Saturday night, the dancers will be opening the show at Chicago’s Harris Theater and performing the encore presentation of the “Giordano Choreography Project”, starting at 6:15PM.
Then, the Giordano Dance Company’s LiveLife.Dance! performance will begin at 8PM. You can purchase tickets by clicking HERE or HERE and they range in price from $15-$60. The Harris Theater is Chicago’s premier performance space for contemporary dance and you’ll find it at 205 E. Randolph Drive in Chicago.
If you’d rather stay close to home this weekend, they’ll be featuring a special French Wine menu prepared by guest chef Patrick Chabert at L’Eiffel Bistrot and Creperie in South Barrington on Sunday, March 27th. The 5-course dinner menu includes wine and costs $75.00 per person. On the menu? Duck Pithiviers and Foie Gras with Green Peppercorn Sauce, Filet of Seabass with Vietnamese Broth and Seaweed Salad, Duo of Roasted Beef Tenderloin and Beef Mitonée with Classical Bordelaise Sause plus a cheese and dessert course.
