365 Things to do in Barrington Suggestion Box

We’ve made it to day #33 of 365 and we’re excited to say that the Chicago Tribune has asked if they could feature this blog every Thursday in the paper and on their website, too. That’s great news becuase it’ll help us get the word out about cool stuff to do, places to go and people to meet in Barrington, Illinois.

TribLocal with The Chicago TribuneYou’ll find our blog published in the TribLocal section of the paper each Thursday that goes out to subscribers in Barrington, Palatine, Inverness, Cary, Fox River Grove and other surrounding Chicago Northwest Suburbs. It’s an exciting opportunity for us to share information about Barrington and we’d love your help. If you’re interested, there are three ways you can get involved:

365Barrington.com Suggestion BoxWe’ve created a suggestion box tab at the top of this website, just to the right of the tab called “The List Year to Date”. Anytime you visit, you can click on this tab to suggest a favorite Barrington hot spot, upcoming event or person of interest that you would like us to write about here. You can also get there by clicking on the photo of the suggestion box to the left.  Whether you own a business, are planning an event or simply want to spread the word about your favorite things to do, we’d love to hear from you.  We have to make it to 365, so we would sincerely appreciate any ideas you’d like to share.

365Barrington.com on FacebookIf you’re on Facebook, we created a page there for people who read and contribute ideas to this blog.  You’ll find the page at Facebook.com/365Barrington.  On this page, we share our latest posts here at 365Barrington.com. It’s also a place to share ideas and have conversations with others who are interested in Barrington. If you become a fan of or “Like” the page on Facebook, you’ll get our updates in your Facebook news feed. You can also help spread the word by suggesting your friends “Like” the page, too. If you want to find us there, just click the Facebook logo above.  If you’re interested, you can also connect with our other page at Facebook.com/BarringtonIllinois.

365Barrington.com on TwitterFor all you “Tweeters” out there, we have a place for you to find us on Twitter, too. Twitter is great because it’s just one more way to spread the word about Barrington. It might not be your thing, but Twitter is still growing in popularity and it’s another tool we use to connect with people each day. You’ll find us on Twitter in two places. One is at Twitter.com/365Barrington and the other is at Twitter.com/BarringtonIL. You can also find us by clicking on the Twitter logo above.

Lastly, thank you for being here. I’m writing this blog in the hopes that it will become a helpful resource for people who live in or are considering a move to Barrington.  I’m meeting so many great people and am learning so much along the way. There are many more to meet before I make it to April 1st, 2011 and it would be great if you are one of them.  We also have a bunch of fun stuff we’re planning to write about this week, so please visit us again soon.

  1. Liz, What an incredible thing you’ve got going here! Great idea and great pix! I was the mom sitting at Barrington Martial Arts when you took the photos — got my boys in the shot at the end of class where they’re bowing.

I am involved with three art groups in Barrington:

The Barrington Cultural Arts Center (you did the 1940s show-thank you)

The Barrington Writers Workshop (now in its 32nd year)

    The Barrington Cultural Commission

Each has things coming up. I can list some dates and events for you and if you are at all interested in covering them, I can send more info. Thanks for doing this. What a wonderful contribution to our community. Tamara Tabel

  2. Hi Tamara, thanks so much for writing in the comments box! I would love to learn more about the groups you’re involved with and any upcoming activies. Please feel free to email or call me with the details or enter them in the suggestion box section of this blog (see tab above). This project is a lot of work, but it’s a great learning experience. I’ve met a lot of really nice people so far and I have a long way to go until the end, as my husband likes to point out :). I enjoyed visiting Barrington Martial Arts this week and I’ll be sharing my photos with Master Lawson, if you’re interested. Thanks again for your kind words. Please tell others about this website and I hope to hear from you soon about your upcoming events. Have a great weekend, Liz
