One of the biggest things happening this weekend is the first ever Barrington Celtic Fest which started today and continues through tomorrow at McGonigal’s Pub. You won’t want to miss performances by traditional Irish band, The Reids, tonight and tomorrow night. McGonigal’s General Manager, Damien Dunne’s twin brother is in the band and they’ve flown in from Ireland just to perform at Barrington’s festivities! You can catch The Reids on the Main Stage tonight from 9PM until close or in the Festival Tent tomorrow night from 8PM until Midnight. Also performing LIVE tomorrow night is Finbarr Fagan and the Paddy Go Easy Band.
To learn more about Finbarr Fagan and the Paddy Go Easy Band and to hear some of their music, check out their website at PaddyGoEz.com. The band is a St. Patrick’s Day staple around Chicagoland and will be performing on McGonigal’s Main Stage, starting at 9PM tomorrow and admission to the festival is FREE.To see the full lineup of entertainment for Celtic Fest, visit McGonigalsPub.com. But Celtic Fest isn’t the only thing happening in Barrington this weekend.
If you’re in the mood for something a little more subdued and cerebral tomorrow night, The Barrington Cultural Arts Center and TesserAct Theater are hosting the latest performance in their “Third Fridays in the Gallery” series. It’s a stage-play called A Fireside Chat: A Conversation wtih FDR and refreshments will be served at 6:30.
The play stars Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin resident, Gary Stamm as President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Tickets cost $5 and the performance will take place at 7PM on Friday, March 18th, in the Barrington Cultural Arts Center Gallery at the Ice House Mall. Here’s a great deal that happens on Friday nights in South Barrigton. Its’ called “50/50 Fridays” at Pinstripes Bowling, Bocce and Bistro. Every Friday, all bottles of wine $50 or less are 50% off. Now I’ll toast to that! Pinstripes has another special on THURSDAY nights that you gals might enjoy. Thursdays are LADIES NIGHTS at Pinstripes with $3 House Specialty Cocktails. You’ll find Pinstripes in The Arboretum of South Barrington at 100 W. Higgins Road.
And if you want to do a little shopping before dinner, there’s a special promotion which just started this week at The Arboretum of South Barrington. If you spend $350 or more in a 24 hour period at the Arboretum, you will receive two FREE TICKETS to see Million Dollar Quartet at Chicago’s Apollo Theater. The deal ends March 30th, so this is the perfect weekend to shop for a cause, so to speak. If you haven’t seen Million Dollar Quartet yet, it’s the smash-hit musical inspired by the first and only recording session that brought together rock-n-roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. If you want to add anything to one of our upcoming “Hot Happenings” lists, add your event to our community calendar, which you’ll find by clicking HERE. I’ll put your event on our regular list of weekend “Things to Do” and we’ll help spread the word about your picks for the hottest happenings in town. I’ll be back again tomorrow with #352 on our list of 365, a little local real estate news and a list of open houses coming up this weekend in Barrington. In the meantime, here’s a look at one of my favorite songs from Million Dollar Quartet.
