Home Newsroom Good Works: Uncork Barrington Thanks Volunteers for a Successful Season of Giving

Uncork Barrington wrapped up the summer season by distributing nearly $7,000 to twelve local non-profit organizations, thanks to the success of this year’s 12th annual July wine and food festival. With nearly 1,200 guests in attendance, 130 volunteers stepped up to help host the event. For each volunteer, the Barrington Village Association donated between $50 and $100 to the participating non-profit of their choice.

Uncork Chairman, Doug Skor says the Barrington Village Association hosts events like Uncork Barrington and the Barrington Farmers Market to bring neighbors together and draw visitors from surrounding communities.

An ample selection of wines provided by Vin Chicago, local food and live music are the highlights of Uncork Barrington. But an integral part of their mission is to give back to local organizations like Career Place, the Barrington Area Council on Aging, Barrington Area United Way, Barrington 220 Educational Foundation and many more.

“Year after year the Barrington Village Association has worked to develop programs and events that directly build upon the historical district of Barrington by bringing people together with the idea of sharing our resources with so many other groups. Uncork’s volunteers are phenomenal and really help make this event special. We couldn’t run it without them and we are forever grateful for their participation.”

CareerPlace™ in Barrington received the largest donation, thanks to their involvement with this year’s Uncork Barrington event. For 20+ years, CareerPlace™ has helped unemployed professionals achieve success in the job search process. Learn more about their work at MyCareerPlace.com.
