Heinen’s Shopping Cart Favorites | Abby Gage’s Prepared Food Picks

It’s a new year and we’re excited to kick off something fun & new with Heinen’s Grocery. Do you have favorite products you crave from Heinen’s? Do you ever wonder what your fellow shoppers love to put into their carts? We’re on a mission to find out! We’re going to be giving away $25 gift cards to unsuspecting Heinen’s customers at the store to see if we can find out what’s in their cart. You know, those Shopping Cart Favorites that keep them coming back to Heinen’s again… and again… and again.

I have to admit, while it was fun having a reason to tap our first shopper on the shoulder, I was a little nervous. I spotted her in the produce department and awkwardly said, “Excuse me, hi, um, my name is Liz. I was wondering if you have any favorite products you love to shop for at Heinen’s?” Then, I held my breath. 😬

Thankfully, she smiled and was more than happy to share and chat for a minute. Her name is Abby Gage and you might recognize her because she’s a long-time local resident and mother of two here in Barrington.

Abby says she loves to shop at Heinen’s Prepared Foods Counter for their Ricotta Meatballs and Marinara, an Italian-American classic. They are tender, juicy, loaded with herbs and cheese, a mixture of beef and pork and covered with a basic marinara sauce.

Another one of Abby’s favorites is Heinen’s Buffalo Chicken Salad made with their popular Chicken Romano, vegetables, blue cheese dressing and crumbles. A refreshing salad that is bold and spicy yet cool and creamy, Heinen’s associates say it’s perfect as a pizza topping or for a simple lunch or dinner.

The funny thing is that I immediately recognized Abby’s name because we’ve shared a story about her before here at 365Barrington.com. Back in October of 2016, Abby was invited by The Chicago Bulls & Advocate Health Care to help #PinkOut the United Center for breast cancer awareness. Click here to read Abby’s story.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that it’s a small world at Heinen’s Grocery. I haven’t set foot inside the store since they opened in 2012 without seeing a familiar face. Nice to finally meet you in person and thanks for your time, Abby.
