First Front Line Workers Receive COVID-19 Vaccine at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital

Advocate Aurora Health reports that doctors, nurses and other front line workers at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington started receiving first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine Thursday. All of Advocate’s Illinois hospitals are now vaccinating team members. It’s a significant undertaking that will start to provide protection to the people who have worked for months to keep our communities safe and healthy.

Executive Medical Director of Infectious Disease and Prevention at Advocate Aurora Health, Dr. Robert Citronberg received the vaccine on Thursday in a show of his confidence in its safety.

“We know that COVID makes people very sick, and you can die from it,” Dr. Citronberg said. “The risks of getting sick from COVID-19 and dying from it far outweigh the risks of the vaccine.”

The vaccine will eventually be available to anyone who wants it.
