April is National Volunteer Month and the Barrington Area Volunteer Connection wants to encourage residents to start looking for ways to get involved and start volunteering now! Listed below are just a few of the many volunteer needs listed on the BAVC platform:

SOUL Harbour Ranch – New Volunteer Information Session on Sunday, April 16th

If you are interested in working with a comprehensive Animal Therapy Program (which includes miniature therapy horses, miniature therapy donkeys, therapy dogs, mini pigs, a giant rabbit and big horses) attend the New Volunteer Information Session on April 16th.

This is the first step to find out more about the SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program and learn how to enrich your life and those of others as a Volunteer. Click here to sign up!

Barrington Giving Day Spring Event

Volunteers are needed in various roles on April 21st and April 22nd to help make this event a success and ensure that families in District 220 have the necessary items for the summer. To see all the volunteer opportunities that are available, please click here.

Barrington Youth & Family Services Admin Help

BYFS is seeking a flexible and committed volunteer (Age 18 & above) to help with light administrative needs such as filing client charts, sending invoices out, general organizational duties. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for those with limited time as its just 1 – 2 hours per week ! Click here to learn more.

Mane in Heaven Miniature Horse Therapy

New Volunteer Session on April 13th – Mane in Heaven is an all volunteer nonprofit with the mission of connecting people with miniature therapy horses to promote empathy, kindness and overall well being. Volunteers visit schools, hospitals and senior centers. Mane in Heaven also provides inclusion programs for disabled children and complex medical needs. Additionally – The Barrington Area Library’s Volunteer Fair returns from its three year hiatus! The library in conjunction with BAVC will host an in-person open house on Saturday, April 15, 1:00 pm – 4 pm.

This will be the first in-person event since Volunteer Connection went live in January 2021. It’s a great way to meet various nonprofits in person and to learn about their volunteer opportunities & their mission. To learn more, click here
