One of the artists who will be displaying her work at this weekend’s Barrington Art Festival is a painter who lives in Lake Barrington by the name of Sue Daly. Her specialty is painting images of homes, architecture and landmarks. And Sue is particularly inspired by Barrington’s historic buildings.
Sue has been drawing properties for the past 30 years. She got her start right out of college, when she was hired to draw and illustrate homes for a real estate developer’s marketing materials. She didn’t particularly love drawing model homes and floor plans, but it’s where she mastered mechanical drawing and developed her technique. Sue says she loves living in Barrington because she feels inspired by the downtown’s historic homes and architecture. Old buildings with charm and character are what she really loves to draw and many of Barrington’s historic properties are the subjects of some of her favorite works of art.
Sue also is the illustrator for a series of childrens’ books about “Mookie the Adventure Cat” by author Judith Kristen. And if you want to turn your own home into a work of art, she can help you with that, too. You’ll find her contact information and more samples of her work on her website at IllustrationsbySueDaly.com. She’ll also be at booth #39 near the Harris Bank parking lot on Station Street during this weekend’s Barrington Art Festival.
I am a huge fan of Sue Daly’s artwork and have her pen and inks, watercolors and even an oil painting of hers in my home. We have traveled throughout the country for work and Sue has completed custom portraits of each home we’ve lived in allowing us to retain cherished memories. Sue is a talented, passionate and charming artist whose work will capture your heart!
You will fall in love with Sue’s images of Barrington.
Make this a “must see” for you and yours this weekend!
Sue’s work is regularly on display at Wool Street Grill & Sports Bar. It really adds to the local flavor.
I am a fan of Sue’s work. I have some of her pieces and will be obtaining others. She really does a good job capturing the essence of the subject whether it be a building or Mookie. I would recommend everyone check out her work. I have sent the books she has illustrated to the young ones in my life and they love them. Check it out, you will like what you see.
