It’s that time of year again. Cruise nights are back on Thursdays this summer starting at 6:30 tonight in downtown Barrington.
If you’ve visited this blog before, you may know that I love to include a little background music for your reading. Click the “play arrow” in the CENTER or BOTTOM LEFT CORNER of the box below before you read on to help get you in the mood for some summer crusin’.
This is the seventh year for the Barrington Village sponsored summer Cruise nights. Car collectors and enthusiasts from around the Chicagoland area will drive their rare, antique and often colorful rides down to Cook and Station Streets every Thurday from tonight through August 26th. They’ll park their cars in the Harris Bank Parking Lot which is on Cook Street, just South of Lake Cook Road. There’s a different theme for every Thursday Cruise night, too. All cars are invited to participate and the featured car for each week will compete for the “People’s Choice Award”! Check out the upcoming themes:
- June 3, 2010 – “Exotic Cars”
- June 10, 2010 – “70’s Night”
- June 17, 2010 – “Corvette”
- June 24, 2010 – “Sports & British Cars”
- July 1, 2010 – “Street Rod & Pre-1948
- July 8, 2010 – “Convertible”
- July 15, 2010 -“Ford & Mercury”
- July 22, 2010 – “4-Speeds”
- July 29, 2010 – “Chevy & Olds
- August 5, 2010 – “Mopar”
- August 12, 2010 – “Pontiac”
- August 19, 2010 – “Trucks & 4X4”
- August 26, 2010 – “Buick”
There is no charge for admission at Barrington Cruise Nights. The car-watching is totally FREE! There will also be giveaways at tonight’s Cruise Night, like free Connie’s pizza and Pepsi products courtesy of The Cubs. Plus there will be fun for kids too, with hula-hoop contests and other activities. And, for the first time this summer, Egg Harbor will be open for dinner during Cruise Night Thursdays. They’ll be breaking out the big grill and serving up hamburgers and hot dogs on the outdoor front patio for some curb-side drinks and dining. Now that’s something worth crusing on down for.
I think that your Corvette date is wrong. Should it be Thursday June 16th?
Looks like your dates are from 2010. All dates should be on every Thursday, right?

Hi Scott,
You’re right..these dates are for 2010. Please watch for a new post with the 2011 Barrington Cruise Nights schedule coming soon to http://www.365Barrington.com. I’ll also send you a message when the post has been published. Thanks for visiting, Liz
Hi Liz,
Do they allow any artists, etc? I know someone who’s artwork is based on the pinstriping of classic cars.
That sounds really cool! I’m not sure if they’ve had artists in the past, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t consider it. I would call and ask the Village of Barrington. You can reach them at 847-304-3400. Ask for Anne Garrett. She plans Village events, like Cruise Nights, and should be a good resource for you. We’ll be writing an updated post this week about the return of Cruise Nights for the season. Thanks for visiting 365Barrington.com, Liz
