197. “Guess Where Wednesday” & Last Week’s Winner

2 mins read

United Way’s painted horses are back in Barrington and on display at locations throughout the community.  They just started putting the horses up and you’ll soon be spotting them all over town, giving us some great “mystery photo” material for our weekly Guess Where Wednesday photo contest.  Can you guess where in Barrington this United Way painted horse is standing?  Take a close look at the bricks in the background.  If you’re super sleuthy, they just might be the clue that gives it all away ;).

“Roundup II” is the United Way’s second painted horse campaign in Barrington.  The horses will be on display throughout town until they’re auctioned off to support community causes during the United Way’s Roundup II Gala Horse Auction this October 13th.  For more information, visit BAUW.org.  If you know where I was standing when I took the horse photo above, just enter your guess in the comments box below. The rules are simple, the prize is super cool and I even have a clue for this week!  But first, it’s time to reveal last week’s mystery photo and announce our winner and her name is…

Congratulations, Amy! Your name was just drawn as the winner of last week’s contest. CLICK HERE to view last week’s mystery photo and see all of our guesses, but here’s a more revealing look at the photo we cropped and shared for our contest from last week.

Pl8 Simply Asian Dining Room – Courtesy of Susan McConnell

As Amy guessed, we were standing inside the dining room at PL8 Simply Asian restaurant in the Foundry of Barrington on Northwest Highway.  Barrington photographer, Susan McConnell, took this photo when we were preparing our recent PL8 feature for “Barrington EATS” called Spice it Up on the Patio at pl8.

For her correct guess, Amy wins a $25 gift certificate to dine at PL8.   I’ll be in touch in the coming days, Amy, to make arrangements to get you your prize.  And it’s perfect timing, too because tomorrow PL8 is launching their new Passport Series events with three culinary tours of the Far East! Each event will feature passed bites and cocktails from different Asian destinations along with entertainment from Polynesian dancers to chef demonstrations. Guests will receive a PL8 passport and a sticker for each region they visit. Those who attend all three events will have the chance to win a cocktail party for 10 people at PL8.  The Passport Series costs $25 per person, all-inclusive, for each event and runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Here are the upcoming dates and themes:

Thursday, July 12:  Japan- Sake, Maki and Beer
Thursday, August 9:  Journey to the South Pacific
Thursday, September 13:  Singapore and the Philippine Islands

Now to this week’s mystery photo…
