We’re adding a little twist this week by making “Guess Where Wednesday” more like “Guess WHO Wednesday”. Why not? We love trying new things here at 365Barrington.com. Plus, when I suggested the idea to our mystery model today, he was all for it! So, for this week’s contest, all you have to do is guess where I was when I took this guy’s picture. If you’ve ever been to this place before, odds are you’ve seen him standing right here. And, if you know his name, your guess counts twice!
This mystery man is a pretty popular guy in town and he’s buying lunch for the winner. So if you know the answer, just submit your guess in the comments box below. You have through Tuesday, August 7th to submit your guesses before we draw and reveal the winner in TWO WEEKS, on Wednesday, August 8th.
And now, it’s time to reveal last week’s mystery photo and announce our winner and her name is…
Congratulations, Jennie, for correctly guessing that you’ll find the mural from last week’s mystery photo outside McGonigal’s Pub on Cook Street, just south of Lake Cook Road. Bryan McGonigal is giving Jennie a $25 gift certificate to the pub for winning our contest. I’ll be in touch this week, Jennie, to make arrangements to get you your prize. Click HERE to see last week’s McGonigal’s mural mystery photo and all of our guesses. Here’s a more revealing look the spot where I took that picture.
You’ll find the Barrington Mural, painted by local artist, Alex Brubacher, on the west wall of McGonigal’s Pub. And you can get a closer look this weekend if you come out to the inaugural Barrington Summerfest on Park Avenue. McGonigal’s is sponsoring the first-ever Barrington Summerfest this weekend to celebrate Barrington Sidewalk Days, which start tomorrow. I’ll be sharing details about Sidewalk Days in my next post. But here’s the scoop on Summerfest.
The outdoor two-day festival will be held on the 200 block of Park Avenue, just East of South Cook Street, from 4 p.m. until Midnight this Friday (July 27th) and from 11 a.m. until Midnight on Saturday (July 28th).
Eight bands will perform live during the festival on a large stage set up on the west end of Park Avenue. A beer truck will mirror the stage on the opposite side and all food, merchants and activities will take up the space in between.
Scattered tables and outdoor seating will be available, along with fun family activities throughout the day including a dunk tank, caricature artists and possibly a mini bag tournament. Drinks will be available along with food from McGonigal’s Pub, Park Avenue Restaurant, Cooper’s Pizza, Kaleidoscoop’s and The SweetSpot Candy Shop.
But live music will be the focus of the festival, including performances by popular club bands like IPOP and Hit or Miss. The festival is free, but they will be asking for a nominal donation after 8 p.m., when the fest is only open to people over age 21. Click HERE or visit McGonigalsPub.com for more information and the schedule of live band performances.
Now to this week’s contest…
This Week’s Prize:
As I mentioned, if you know where I took today’s picture of the guy featured in the photo, you will be eligible to win a $10 gift certificate to use at his place of business.
This Week’s Clue: You’ll Spot it at Summerfest.
Here’s how it works:
* Submit guesses about where today’s mystery photo was taken in the comments area below for this post
* You have until the end of the day Tuesday, August 7, to submit your guess
* In TWO WEEKS on Wednesday, we’ll draw a name and reveal the winner at 365Barrington.com
* We will contact the winner with instructions about receiving the prize of the week
* Only one guess per person
* Only guesses posted here on this website (not on Facebook or Twitter) will be entered into the drawing
* Your email address must be valid, so we can contact you if you win
There you go! All you have to do is SUBMIT YOUR GUESS IN THE “COMMENTS” BOX BELOW. If you’ve guessed in our previous contests, please feel free to participate again this week! We’d love to see as many guesses as possible. We’re also working on finding more great prizes to give away for future “Guess Where Wednesday” mystery photo contests. If you would like to offer one of our upcoming prizes, please drop me a note at Liz@365Barrington.com.
