The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce’s (BACC) hosted its 29th annual Golf Classic at Wynstone Golf Club, 1 S. Wynstone Dr., North Barrington, on Monday, July 13th. This event was one of the first outings on the newly renovated championship Wynstone golf course – designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Despite the morning storms, the day turned out to be a clear, warm day, and a perfect opportunity for effective networking.

The BACC Golf Classic is a scramble and includes contests, games, celebratory dinner, and prizes. Golfers began the day’s events with a grill lunch on Wynstone’s patio and practice at the driving range. Shotgun tee began at noon, concluding with the 19th Hole Celebration open bar, dinner and award ceremony.

Chamber members promoted their businesses with exclusive hole sponsorships, tee sponsorships, gift bag and raffle item donations. Golfers enjoyed the tastings, games, and giveaways the sponsors presented while mingling with local businesses at each hole. Guests purchased tickets for individual foursomes or the 19th Hole Celebration with dinner and open bar only. It was a great way to treat clients or vendors to a day out on this prestigious course. The 19th Hole Celebration and dinner ceremony ended the day with networking, good food and great company.

“Perhaps the most hurtful impact of the stigma surrounding mental illness is the common belief that women with mental illness cannot be good mothers. In a society that values ‘self-sacrificing mothers’ and rewards adherence to gender norms, we often deem that a ‘good mother’ has few needs and challenges of her own; rather, she can commit herself in her entirety to her children.

Mental illness can certainly make some aspects of motherhood more challenging, but it doesn’t disqualify those of us living with a mental health condition from being good parents. In fact, research suggests that many issues faced by mothers with mental illness are generic to all parents. While mothers with mental illness may experience more unique challenges from their symptoms, or from medication and treatment obligations, these risks can be managed with the guidance of a good collaborative care team.”
