I sat down at the Park Avenue Wine Bar in Barrington last night and for a minute I forgot I was in the suburbs. A cool curved backlit bar, the reflection from pendant lights above and exposed brick walls give the space a very urban vibe and I can see why Barrington’s newest night spot is one of the hottest places in town.
The Park Avenue Wine Bar and Merchant opened in this Spring, filling a huge void in Barrington, a community full of wine enthusiasts. The Park Avenue gives them a place to taste, learn and share their passion socially.
From wine flights to suggested food pairings, special wine dinners to guest wine maker presentations, the owner, Steve Berry, is serving up quite a menu. Last week, vodka maker, Barry Young visited from Pennsylvania to talk about his Boyd & Blair organic potato vodka. And there’s another free tasting tonight! Wine maker, Jeff Faber is visiting from Opolo Vineyards to host a tasting of ten of his Paso Robles wines.
Tonight’s FREE Paso Robles tasting starts at 5:30 and goes until 7PM. Take a look at some of these other upcoming May events:
May 9 – Special Mother’s Day menu with Champagne and Mimosa specials
May 19 – Quintessa Wine Dinner at 7PM featuring selections from the Quintessa Winery in Rutherford, California – $95 per person
May 27 – Fess Parker Wine Dinner at 7PM featuring selections from Fess Parker Winery in Los Olivos, California – $85 per person
The Park Avenue Wine Bar opens at 11AM and serves lunch and dinner seven days a week. They offer 25 wines by the glass and 70 wines by the bottle along with a great selection of beer, cocktails and after dinner drinks. Their wines and liquors are also available for retail purchase. Reservations are definitely recommended. Seating is limited for their Wine Dinners and tables fill up quickly during peak hours. You’ll find their lunch, dinner and wine menus along with info about upcoming events at their website, ParkAvenueWineBar.com.
