When a big anniversary approaches, it’s impossible not to relive moments from the past, both good and bad. And emotions are definitely resurfacing as we approach tomorrow’s 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. With new terror threats and photos from the attacks on the news this week, I’ll admit, I’ve been feeling more emotional than I expected. A lot has happened in the past 10 years. Security changes world-wide have kept us safe. Osama Bin Laden is no longer here. I’m married now, with three young kids and I do feel more protected than I did before. But I’m still fearful today that there will be more attacks. I feel sad. I feel angry. And I’m wondering how I’ll explain what happened that day when my kids are old enough to understand.
Barrington will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the attacks at a community remembrance ceremony tomorrow morning. It’ll take place at 8:30 at Barrington Memorial Park and seating will be available, starting at 8:15.
