When I go to a wedding, one of the things I most look forward to is seeing how the bride and groom set the mood with all the details, large and small. From the flowers, to the place cards to the way the tables are set, sometimes the little things are what I remember most. Our wedding was right before Valentine’s Day, so we chose red tablecloths and romantic lighting. To be honest, I should disclose that by “we”, I mean my mom and I. Bill was enthusiastically indifferent.
But the one thing I wish I had when planning our wedding, was expert help. Barrington special events planner, Christina Currie would have been perfect for the job.
Christina has been planning weddings, parties and special events for clients in and around Barrington for years and started her own business, ChristinaCurrieEvents, in 2004. She’s in charge of the details for tomorrow’s 60010 Barrington Bridal Connection Show and, whether you’re planning a wedding or a special party at home, she has designed some great tablescapes for the show to get your juices flowing. “It’s all about getting ideas. Ideas really come to mind when you actually sit at the table, touch the wedding favors and get a feel for everything that’s there. You can’t get that from a magazine or a computer.”
Christina says there will be different themed wedding tables set up throughout the Ice House Mall for tomorrow’s show. And she’s carefully designed each table to reflect some of the top trends with today’s brides. “Today’s brides are very chic, very savvy and very educated. They want that classic look with just a little bit of trendy.” What are some of the most popular trends for 2011? Christina says Prince William and Kate Middleton’s “Royal Wedding” on April 29th will be THE trendsetter of the year. “For 2011 and 2012, the trend will be whatever they do.” Here are some of the table themes you’ll find at tomorrow’s bridal show:
- “The Royal Table” – A “not to miss creation” of a table fit for Prince William and Kate Middleton. “Think English garden inspired by fairy tales and poetry. And everything has been approved by the Queen. That’s a little hint.”
- “The Roaring Twenties” – “This table brings in the richness from that era. Black and silver, boa feathers, rhinestones, Manhattan and Sidecar drinks and lots of pearls.”
- “The Magnificent” – “This is a sassy and very sexy table. We created a very deep dark black linen with rich red roses and gold accents. It’s your black tie affair. It’s a cabaret feel. It could be for a wedding or a bachelorette party or a rehearsal dinner or just a simple party at your house.”
And that’s exactly what Christine stresses about tomorrow’s event. It may be a bridal show, but the Ice House Mall will be filled with over 50 local vendors who will help you plan an execute any kind of party for groups of all sizes. The show is FREE and they’ll be giving away great prizes. It starts at Noon and lasts until 4PM. You’ll find the Ice House Mall at 200 Applebee Street in Barrington and you can learn all about Christina Currie and find her contact info on her website at ChristinaCurrieEvents.com.
