If you like to have your cake and eat it, too, have we got an event for you! Norton’s U.S.A. “Uniquely American General Store” is hosting a Live Auction Cake Sale tomorrow, May 11th, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit this year’s Relay for Life and you could walk away with a sweet homemade treat for mom this Mother’s Day.
A team of bakers and Norton’s shoppers have been baking up a storm for tomorrow’s big cake event to support the Relay for Life theme of helping people celebrate more birthdays.
You can expect an assortment of beautifully decorated and delicious cakes and a few laughs for a Saturday afternoon.
Everyone gets a betting paddle and Norton’s owner, Deborah Leydig, provides some extra entertainment in the form of her husband, Bruce. He gets all dressed in a tux to play the part of auctioneer.
The cakes will all go to the highest bidder so it’s fun for all ages.
Deborah’s family is one of so many that have been touched by cancer.
She takes part in the Relay for Life every year in memory of loved ones she has lost to cancer and in support of others who face the disease today.
To participate in Norton’s Cake Auction tomorrow, all you have to do is show up. It starts at 3 and lasts until 4:30 and you can pick up a Mother’s Day gift while you’re there.
You’ll find Norton’s U.S.A. at 400 S. Lageschulte Street in Barrington and you’ll find them online at NortonsUSA.com.
This year’s Relay for Life is coming up at Barrington High School on Friday, June 7th. For more information on the relay and how you can get involved, visit relayforlifeofbarrington.org.
