The owner of Verizon Wireless in Barrington, Mike Drelicharz says Barrington customers have been so supportive since the store opened in February and he’s working hard every day to reward that loyalty.

“We are a full service Verizon Wireless dealer but we offer a higher level of service and we’re really a wireless technology destination.  So we have much more than cell phones and cell phone cases.  We have blue tooth accessories, we have gadgets, we have toys for the kids and we have all kinds of wireless devices to impact people’s lives.”

Mike says they’ve been very busy this month selling some of the season’s hottest devices and gift items for the holidays.

“We have a wide range of Android phones, we still sell a lot of basic phones to people who just want to make phone calls or basic text phones.  We have all of the Apple devices, iPad, iPad Mini and we carry headsets, monster speakers along with a number of other unique items.   We have a golf device that helps people work on their golf game, we have a pet tracker, we have remote control toys, helicopters, monster trucks and many great Christmas gifts.”

Mike says they’re also featuring an awesome “Twice as Nice” Samsung promotion.

“If you buy one Samsung Galaxy S III Mini, you’ll get one free.  It’s the new phone that just hit the market.  It’s a great entry level phone with a smaller form factor so kids can hold it better and you can’t beat the price.”

The first phone costs $50 and comes with a $50 rebate and the second phone is free!

No matter what device you choose, Mike promises you’ll be highly satisfied by Verizon’s network coverage.

“Verizon’s network coverage is better than all carriers put together.  Our 4G LTE network is faster.  It’s as fast as your home internet speeds and other carriers can’t boast that so it’s a great reason to be on Verizon.”

And Mike also says he and his team are committed to customer service.

“When a customer buys a phone from us, we help tutor them by taking the time to answer all of their questions and addressing their needs, one-on-one, for free, for an hour after they buy a phone from us right here in our Barrington store.”

You’ll find Verizon Wireless at 106-C N. Northwest Highway in Barrington, near the gas station and car wash on the northwest corner of Lake Cook Road and Rte. 14.  You can check out their many phones and devices on their website at WirelessZone/BarringtonIL.

Hi! 😁 Today's Word of the Day is 汉语 hàn yǔ -- literally "Han Language."

So, we're backtracking... or maybe just following the path of yesterday's post 😂. Either way, it might behoove you to know the context of this word.

The 汉 hàn in 汉语 refers to the Han ethnic group -- the largest of the 56 (government-proclaimed) Chinese ethnic groups. Some data have indicated that Han people comprise 90% or more of the population. So, it's unsurprising that this large group has gotten to name one of the most common terms for Mandarin. (Remember, Mandarin is what we learn at BHS and is the official language of China. There are other dialects/languages in existence.)

Anyhoo, the point is that if one is going to be referring to Mandarn Chinese as a language, it wouldn't hurt to know how to say it two ways! 🙃

普通话 and 汉语 can be used in most of the same contexts -- 汉语 might be a little less eloquent, but you won't get in trouble for using either. 🙂
