Welcome to This Day in Barrington History
Good morning and welcome to March 12th and Day 71 of 365 in Barrington, Illinois! You’ll find our stories of the day – past, present & future (events) – right here on today’s DailyPage. Because every day has its own rhythm, we’re sharing a song of the day here at 365Barrington.com.
On this day, March 12 in 1994, Swedish group Ace Of Base started a six week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with techno-reggae pop ballad, ‘The Sign’, a No.2 hit in the UK. On this day back in 1994, Ace of Base techno-reggae pop ballad, “The Sign” topped the Billboard Hot 100 List making Ace of Base the first Swedish band to to simultaneously score a number one single & album on the Billboard charts. It also won the 1995 Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group. The song is about a breakup but I love its message about looking for people, paths and signs that point toward “the light where you belong”.
