Shaw Media’s Barrington Suburban Life newspaper chose Smart Farm of Barrington’s Frozen Zucchini Snowshoe Adventure for the cover of this week’s issue. Our frosty weather was no match for this brigade of happy snowshoers!
But you’ll find many more stories in this week’s paper. Here’s a look at whats inside this week’s issue, from Barrington Suburban Life reporter Tarah Thorne……

The results are in after Saturday’s “Chilly Challenge” Chili Cook-off in South Barrington. About 300 chili fans from in and around Barrington met at the South Barrington Arboretum Saturday afternoon to sample and vote for chili prepared by seven local restaurants.
I was one of the guest judges and snapped a few photos on the chili tour, which started at Pinstripes Bowling, Bocce & Bistro. A shuttle whisked the chili tasters off to all seven restaurants, which included Pinstripes, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant, Nozuzmi Asian & Japanese Cuisine, Gold Class Cinemas, L’Eiffel Bistrot & Creperie, Panera Bread and defending 2010 Chili Champion, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. There’s something really BIG happening in Barrington 130 days from today. It’s all about coming together as a community. It’s all about watching more people celebrate more birthdays. It’s all about helping people with cancer survive. I’ve never been part of a “Relay for Life” before. But today I’m jumping into this campaign and hoping you might join me.

Barrington’s relay is happening on Friday, June 10th, 2011 at Barrington High School Stadium. All of the money raised will help the American Cancer Society fund cancer research and campaigns that help with cancer detection, treatment and prevention. Sounds like a good cause to me!
So I spent a little time on the Barrington Relay for Life website this morning and decided to start a 365 Barrington Team. I’ve never started a team like this before and I’ll be about EIGHT MONTHS PREGNANT when this relay happens. But I promise I’ll take some laps at good old BHS Stadium, big belly and all! Here’s how it works and what’s happening TONIGHT……
