There are a TON of Halloween events happening in Barrington this week and this is one time when I’m going to do my best to share ALL of the GORY DETAILS.  Today, I’m focusing on Halloween events for kids, just because I love this picture of a Barrington dad all dressed up and holding his devil baby.

This picture is from last year’s Barrington Park District Hallween Egg Hunt, which is just one of many Halloween happenings this week in Barrington.

Halloween Fun For Kids

Halloween Egg Hunt and Safety Demonstration at the Barrington Park DistrictHalloween Egg Hunt:  This Barrington Park District event is all about Halloween Safety.  It’s happening at Langendorf Park this Thursday from 7-7:45PM.  Kids are encouraged to come in costume and bring their own flashlights.  For the first 15 minutes, police will review Halloween safety tips with kids and then everone will go outside and hunt for eggs in the dark.  The cost is $5 per child if you preregister or $8 at the door.

Halloween Spooktacular at the Barrington Park DistrictHalloween Spooktacular: Also at Barrington’s Langendorf Park, this event is for kids age 1-10 and will take place this Saturday, October 30, from 10AM until 1PM. It’s happening indoors at the new Park District Fitness and Recreation Center. They’re setting up an indoor glow-in-the-dark mini golf course and there’ll be face painting, games, cookie deorating and hayrides outside (weather permitting). The cost is $8 (in district) and $10 (out of district). Adults get in for free with each paid child admission.

Costumes are recommended and registration is required for both of the Barrington Park District Halloween Events, but it’s really easy. All you have to do is fill out and fax back or drop off the form which you’ll find by clicking HERE. You can also call the park district at 847-381-0687.  Langendorf Park is at 235 Lions Drive in Barrington.

Free Halloween Fun at the South Barrington ArboretumArBOORetum:  The community is invited to come out to enjoy FREE tricks, treats and Halloween festivities at The Arboretum of South Barrington this Saturday, October 30th, from 11AM to 1PM.  All kids in costume will receive a prize along with treats from participating stores.  There will be pumpkin painting at Season’s Market, Halloween hair coloring at KidSnips and expert face painting by the “Glitter Gals”.

Trick or Treating at the Ice House MallIce House Trick or Treating:  There will be trick or treating indoors on Halloween day, this Sunday, October 31st, at the Ice House Mall.  It’s happening from 1 to 4PM.  Bring your kids in costume and shop for you while they shop for treats. In addition to goodies for kids in costume, there will also be a “Guess the Pumpkin’s Weight” Contest.  That will be set up in the mall common area and is for kids age 12 and under. There are some great “Adults” only Halloween parties this weekend in Barrington. I’ll post the “Adult Party” details here at 365Barrington.com first thing Thursday morning. But if you want a “Blood Orange Bubbling Martini” or some sinful devlish desserts in South Barrington, book your sitter for Friday night. If you’re looking for costumes, live music and a late night dance party, plan your sitter for Saturday. Details coming soon!!!
