65. Help Good Shepherd Hospital at Art in the Barn
If you’ve ever made a trip to Good Shepherd Hospital for medical needs, planned or unplanned, this is one weekend where you can return to repay the favor. The 37th Annual Art in the Barn juried fine art show is happening this Saturday and Sunday, September 24th and 25th. Over 175 artists will be there to sell their creations and share their earnings to help fund hospital initiatives designed to keep us healthy.
A group of 10 women organized the first Art in the Barn with only 30 artists in 1974 to help raise money to build the hospital here in Barrington. The show has grown and, this weekend, they’re expecting up to 7,000 people to attend.…

28. Explore the Art of Barrington’s Amanda Paulson
With the Barrington Art Fest just days away, we can’t let the week go by without meeting some of the artists who will have their works on display and for sale. But you don’t have to wait until this weekend to meet Barrington artist, Amanda Paulson. She’ll be the featured guest at an artist reception and wine tasting scheduled for TONIGHT. It’s happening at the Park Avenue Wine Bar in downtown Barrington, where her artwork is currently featured, including this 48″ x 48″ painting of the Statue of Liberty, priced at $1,595.
Amanda is truly a local Barrington artist. She grew up here in Barrington, attended Countryside Elementary School, Station Middle School and graduated from Barrington High School in 2004.…

27. Meet & Encourage Barrington’s Youngest Artists
The people in charge of this weekend’s Barrington Art Festival are shining a spotlight on the area’s youngest artists this year. For the first time, they’re devoting a section of the festival to youth artists who will be displaying their works for sale and there will also be a children’s art activity area where kids of all ages can slip on a smock, roll up their sleeves and create their own masterpieces.
The family fun is totally FREE and it will definitely be a highlight of this year’s festival!…

197. Barrington Artists Unite for The United Way
Since I started writing this blog on April first, there is one Barrington photographer whose images you’ve seen featured here more than any other. His name is Bob Lee, and after he retired, he made a decision to use his photography in charitable ways. If you’re looking for a photo of a non-profit or community event that has taken place or was planned in Barrington, he is the go-to guy.
Bob Lee is one of 30 local artists featuring their works at businesses throughout Barrington for this year’s United Way campaign which kicks off in Barrington today.…
