If the busy pace of life is taking a toll on quality time spent with your spouse, you’re not alone. Saint Anne Catholic Community is offering a special opportunity to pause, remember and celebrate all of those reasons you said “I Do” during their upcoming “Day of Renewal” for married couples of ALL ages. All are welcome to join their “Time Out and Time Away” marriage retreat from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 5th at the Bellarmine Jesuit Retreat House (420 West County Line Rd, Barrington). The deadline to sign up is on Friday, February 19th.

Post 900 - Marriage Retreat

The Young Marrieds Group at Saint Anne in Barrington is organizing the couples retreat. They welcome all who may be interested in joining them to reflect upon, discover and discuss the gift of marriage. Volunteers planning the Day of Renewal put it best when they shared this thought…

“We are parents, employees, friends, cooks, housekeepers, bill payers, chauffeurs, social media followers, etc.  All of those other labels often become more of a priority than the person that we promised to love forever.  In this day in age, it is so easy to take our marriage for granted.  The sanctity of marriage is no longer what it was for our parents and grandparents.  There are outlets to complain about spouses, or even look for a new one if yours is not meeting your needs at that moment.

When is the last time that you were really able to look at your marriage?  Now is the time.”

The session will be facilitated by Dr. Barb Jarvis-Pauls who brings over 30 years of experience conducting marriage enrichment retreats. Couples attending the Day of Renewal will come away with:

  1. New insights into their marriage and practical skills to implement those insight in their everyday life
  2. Inspiration concerning the gift of marriage and what it can be and
  3. A renewed commitment and devotion to each other and their marriage bond.

Topics of the day will include Communication, Conflict Resolution, Intentionality, History of Marriage in the Catholic Church, and more! It will take place from 10am – 4pm, followed by a vow renewal ceremony at St. Anne Church.
