67. 365 Barrington "Spot the Scarecrow" Contest

Barrington’s newest residents have inspired a new contest here at 365Barrington.com.  If you’ve driven through town lately, you’ve surely seen scarecrows hanging around on sidewalks and street corners.  It’s all for the Village of Barrington’s annual scarecrow design competition.  We’re getting in on the fun by teaming up with local businesses to host our first ever 365 Barrington Spot the Scarecrow contest and it’s easy to win.  All you have to do is guess where in Barrington the featured scarecrow is standing and you’ll be in the running to receive great prizes.  So here’s our first photo.  Have you spotted this scarecrow around town?

If you spend any time passing through downtown Barrington, chances are you’ve seen this guy hanging out on his bale of hay. But be careful! Don’t let the reflection fool you. A local business designed this straw fireman to pay tribute to the heroes of September 11th……

Dancing in the Streets of Downtown Barrington

56. Get in on the New Barrington Dance Craze

There’s a new community dance craze taking over the streets of Barrington. “Flash Mobs” have become the latest rage. If you watch Glee, follow YouTube or are a hip and happening reader of 365Barrington.com, I’m sure you know all about them ;).  For those of you who’d like a little background, Flash Mobs are “large groups of people who assemble suddenly in public and perform a dance or unusual act for a brief time, then disperse.” The performance is supposed to be a secret, but a little birdie has let me in on what could be Barrington’s next Flash Mob.

Barrington’s last Cruise Night of the season is happening downtown on Cook Street tomorrow night, starting at 6:30. My source tells me that, if you’re there at around 6:45, you might just get Flash Mobbed, like this one that happened a couple of weeks ago……

Smokin Gunz are otherwise known as “Chicago’s Hardest Working Country Band”. They’re a Top 40 Country band from the suburbs of Chicago, they have a reputation for getting the audience on their feet and you can learn more about them at SmokinGunz.net.

Weekly Farmers Market Returns to Barrington

36. Welcome Back to the Barrington Farmers Market

We’ve been waiting since last fall for this!!! The weekly Farmers Market returns to Barrington for its 11th season this Thursday. So get ready for some freshly popped kettle corn, the balloon man, the lemonade guy and the return of some of your favorite farmers.  Plus, prepare to meet some brand new vendors this year.  To get into the spirit of the season, I found some of my favorite farmers market photos taken by Barrington photographer, Anthony Tortoriello.
I also caught up with Farmers Market co-chair, Margaret Myren, earlier this week to get the scoop on which vendors are coming back and who will be new to the market this year.  You’ll be excited to find out what she had to say……
